The Role Markers

These are set of small square markers (printed labels on square marker magnets) depicting a range of common roles or functions, as outlined in the Role Markers Guide Sheet in the LSB Standard Kit.

Mention of persons who play certain roles in Principal’s life may come up spontaneously, or upon enquiry. Or, enquiry may be systemic, learning about Principal’s relationships, looking together at the Guidesheet, and assigned Role Markers, as approbate to the Person Cards that populate the lifescape.

Typically, the set of Role Markers are displayed on a Palette to be selected from. A Role marker is placed on or near the relevant Person Card. Multiple copies on labels are provided, Other Roles, outside the prepared set, can be added ad hoc.

When someone played a given role in the past, not now, indicate with a piece of clay or with a crossed out line.

Typically, the Role Markers refer to the role Others play in Principal’s life. But sometimes, you may wish to indicate the inverse- the Role Principal plays for someone else.

A Zone Card may be used as a Hollow or Missing Zone- for Elements missing When the User and this lack is perceived as significant. When that is available, ‘unfulfilled’ Role Markers can be meaningfully placed in the Hollow Zone=- there is no one that I trust, I don’t have a role model to follow. Noting its absence may help validate, focus and generate discussion, ideas for useful actions or directions.
